Since 1933, the Ontario Camps Association (OCA) has provided support for summer camps for children from Ontario, nationally and internationally. OCA has played an important leadership role in promoting and encouraging children and youth camping. The OCA is a voluntary, non-profit organization that draws its membership from camps, individuals and like-minded organizations and agencies, all devoted to maintaining high standards for organized camping, and to sharing information and ideas that maintain these standards.
OCA is a community of camp professionals who, for more than 80 years, have been working together to assist camps with providing the highest quality camp experiences for our nation’s youth. Our members include private camps, agency camps, special needs camps, religiously affiliated camps, municipal camps, resident camps, day camps, leadership centers and outdoor educational programs, each one offering expanded learning opportunities.
Collectively, OCA members impact over 300,000 children and 600,000 parents annually. OCA helps camps to make an impact in the lives of the children you encounter every day in your work. OCA provides educational resources, educational conferences and workshops, research, mentorship, opportunities for reaching your target audiences and other professionals around the province. OCA Standards provide guidelines to building a safer, healthier, camp industry where children and youth can become leaders, environmental stewards, and a healthier population.
Membership in the OCA and the use of the OCA logo as an Accredited Camp Member, indicates to an increasingly aware public, that you and your camp are committed to following and maintaining a set of provincially recognized Standards. The Standards are continually updated and reviewed to maintain the high level of safety for everyone at Camp. As a leading authority on youth development, OCA works to preserve, promote, and improve the camp experience for all involved. Camps and camp professionals affiliated with OCA benefit from the collective knowledge, insights, experiences, and connections of all who belong. Indeed, it is a group that, with 500 plus members, is uniquely qualified to work proactively, individually, and together to effect positive youth development.
Membership in OCA allows you to use the OCA logo in your promotional material including the displaying of the sign that your camp is an Accredited OCA Member Camp. For more information on how you can become a member, click here.
