The Ranch is hiring for a Leadership Director to run our four-week Leadership Adventure Program, two-week Leadership Essentials Program, and help on the camp programming team. Applicants must be able to facilitate outdoor-based experiences and develop lesson
plans to teach responsibility, compassion, respect, self-esteem, community, healthy living, and other life skills to 14-15 year olds.
Key highlights of this program are a three-day off-site backpacking trip to the Bruce Peninsula, an overnight camping trip with horses on Circle R property, and an onsite group project. Participants will gain a greater understanding of their own leadership abilities, a stronger base of camp-related skills, and the satisfaction of having created lifelong friendships and memories.

We are hiring for a Leadership Program (LP) Director to support the staff who run our leadership programs:
Leadership Adventure Program, Leaders in Training, and the Leadership Essentials Program.
Participants range from grade 9 to 10. The LP Director would cover time off for the two directors (LIT Director and LAP Director), cover program prep time, help facilitate leadership workshops, ensure quality programming, and other support services. Applicants must be able to facilitate outdoor-based experiences (hikes, basic nature education, etc.) and implement leadership-based lesson plans. This role has a lot of room to get creative to try their own ideas and work together with the other leadership directors to come up with new programs. Must have experience working with youth in grade 9-10, preferably in a teaching or leadership role. Applicants would gain a greater understanding of their own leadership abilities, various life skills, a stronger base of camp-related skills, and the satisfaction of having created lifelong friendships and memories.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Working under the direction of Assistant Manager – Recreational Learning, the Art Specialist is responsible for daily execution of arts programming in the respective camps: Curiosity, Quest, Creative Arts, Emerging Artists camps, Senior Arts camps, Architecture, Young Builders, Interior Design & Decorating, S.T.E.A.M. The Art Specialist is responsible for the set-up, supplies, delivery and clean-up of their scheduled workshop. In addition, the Art Specialist will collaborate with the Directors to ensure programming meets our end-of-session Open House exhibition standards.
The ideal candidate will have a breadth of experience teaching children and youth. Mastery of classroom management techniques is essential to ensure optimal campers outcomes. As the Art Specialist, a commitment to artistic exploration through personal practice and an ability to convey passion for the arts is encouraged.

Familiarity with a variety of artistic mediums (drawing, painting, printmaking, clay, etc.) is required;

Desirable Criteria
Completed a post secondary degree as related to the position (B.F.A., B.Ed. or equivalent recommended);

DUTIES
Provide high-level customer service to visitors and patrons in the form of answering phones, email correspondence and reception services;
Perform general office duties which may include, but is not limited to: data entry, filing, assisting with the registration process, sharing program information, following up with customer concerns and/or incidents; Handle registrations for all programs by maintaining daily and weekly records of number of registrants in each program, by reviewing incoming registrations for errors or missing information and following up with registrants by phone and/or email; by processing computerized receipts, collecting fees and by entering registration data into the computer using an established procedure.
Facilitate the transfer and formatting of all relevant registration information for use by camps staff in the day to day operation of camps. This includes but is not limited to clearing lists, bussing lists, and attendance checks to keep and distribute information.
Knowledge and skills for this position are normally acquired through 1-2 years of related experience (e.g. customer service, general office work, administration duties).
Job requires use of computer, calculator, photocopier and other office equipment.
Job requires above average computer program knowledge (Word, Excel, and Google Docs) and excellent keyboarding skills.
Job requires strong interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy to deal with difficult/challenging public and staff over the phone and in person.
Job requires excellent communication skills and exceptional telephone manner.

Camp Driver
Kandalore is looking for a positive and enthusiastic individual to fill the role as a Camp Driver. The successful applicant will be friendly, responsible, well-organized and be prepared to drive at any time of day or night in the event of an emergency. Familiarity or experience with summer camp is recommended.
The Camp
Founded in 1947 Kandalore offers a traditional camp experience for children 6 – 16. Originally operating as a boy’s camp, Kandalore became co-educational in 1992. The camp prides itself on its warm and supportive community where children are made to feel included in the camp culture. The supportive nature of the camp allows for the campers to try new activities and develop new skills with the help of caring staff members.
Responsibilities include:
Conducting town-runs to pick up necessary supplies
Assist with airport and train station pick up
Cleaning camp vehicles, daily fluid and safety kit check
Obey all traffic rules, including speed limits.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a volunteer position and hours may be eligible for high school volunteer requirement. At the end of the camp season, IITs will receive a letter indicating the total hours/weeks they volunteered.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The IIT Program is open to applicants who will be at least 15 years of age within the calendar year and have an interest in improving their paddling skills and being a mentor to younger Campers. Our 2020 Camps begin Monday, June 29th and run for 10 weeks to Friday, September 4th. Camps do not run on Canada Day (Wednesday, July 1st) or the Civic Holiday (Monday, August 3rd). Participants are expected to volunteer in our camps a minimum of 4 weeks during July and August, but you are welcome to volunteer for more weeks if you chose to. IIT participants are also encouraged to attend Pre-Camp Training Week, which runs from June 22-26, 2020.
While at camp, IITs will learn from the Senior and Junior Instructors how to run our Canoe & Kayak camp programs and improve their own skills. IITs will rotate through each of the Canoe & Kayak camps and will have the opportunity to improve their interpersonal, leadership and outdoor skills, as well as make new friends and create some great memories.

In the pre-camp season, Junior Instructors partake in leadership training and are expected to commit to paddling skill development. The Directors of Canoe & Kayak work together to design and implement staff training and Canoe & Kayak camps programming. Furthermore, they also ensure that the Harbourfront Centre Camps standard of quality and safety is upheld. The Directors will share responsibilities pertaining to staff management, as well as act as coordinators between the Harbourfront Centre Camps office and Senior Instructors. In the pre-camp season, Directors are responsible for assisting with staff hiring, staff training, and the Canoe & Kayak camps programming design. During the camp season, Directors are responsible for the management and well-being of campers and staff. Additionally, Directors will work alongside the Marine Camps Coordinator to coordinate day-to-day operations, while providing peripheral support to staff on group.
DUTIES
Train and supervise staff of 12 Senior Instructors, 14 Junior Instructors and Instructors-in-Training volunteers
Develop programming for staff training which adequately prepares them for the demands of their role as related to:
Quality and content of relevant knowledge instruction and canoe/kayak skills
Programming planning and design
Group leadership and staff management (based on staff position)
Safety management
Develop programming and resources that meets programming promise in the camps brochure
Facilitate daily scheduling of campers including beginning of day coordination and end of day drop-off
Work alongside the camp medical staff to ensure healthcare and first aid is adequately provided at all times to staff and campers
Plan and run camp specific meetings
Administrative duties such as daily attendance, evaluations, incident/accident reports, etc.
Provide superior customer service
