YMCA Wanakita is seeking a Challenge Course Facilitator (ACCT Level 2 Certified Challenge Course Instructor) to join us for the 2020 program season.
This is a contract position responsible for delivering and facilitating recreational and educational programs throughout the winter, spring, summer and fall seasons with a focus on adventure programming.
During the Outdoor Centre seasons (spring, fall & winter) the Challenge Course Facilitator will be responsible for taking a leadership role in Wanakita’s Challenge Course/Adventure programming. When not facilitating adventure programming, the Challenge Course Facilitator will provide a range of other outdoor education programming (cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, winter survival, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, initiatives, archery, environmental programs, out trips etc.) to a range of different clientele.
During the summer season, the Challenge Course Facilitator will supervise a team of up to 3 Ropes Specialists to oversee YMCA Wanakita’s operation of adventure programming.
Throughout the year, the Challenge Course Facilitator will report to the in-season director and YMCA Wanakita’s Challenge Course Manager in the operation of Wanakita’s 2 Low Ropes Courses, Climbing Wall, 24- element Static/Lanyard Course and 7 dynamic belay elements.

Live, Work, and Play with Children in Algonquin Park This Summer!
Camp Arowhon is a traditional co-ed residential summer camp in the heart of Algonquin Park, Ontario. Our mission is to nurture and challenge children, both physically and emotionally. Our community of 350 campers is big enough to be diverse but still feels like a family. Our team of 150 staff means that the campers get a ton of individual attention, and you have a whole bunch of like-minded people to hang out with.
At Arowhon, you will receive professional training and expert support and supervision. You will grow yourself while you help children grow. You will leave feeling proud because you made campers feel proud of themselves. You will work hard and play hard, all in a beautiful wilderness setting.
Our in-camp activities are focused on teaching activity specific technical skills to both beginners and experts. Our goal is that our campers develop technical proficiency, build self-confidence, and develop a sense of community through instruction.
We are currently seeking Head and Assistant Instructors in all 18 of our activity areas, including: High Ropes and Zipline, Rock Climbing, Archery, Nature, Ball Hockey, Fieldsports, Basketball, Flatwater and Whitewater Kayaking, Swimming, Sailing, Tennis, Wind Surfing, Arts and Crafts, Guitar and Music, Drama, Horseback Riding, Yoga and FAD (Fitness, Aerobics and Dance).

End Date: August 17th, 2020
Salary: Variable, commensurate on experience and qualifications
